Faktry vs Excel: Excel काम करता है — जब तक नहीं करता

Excel enemy नहीं है

आधी sales calls जो हम लेते हैं शुरू होती हैं apologetic “हम अभी भी सब कुछ Excel में चलाते हैं” से। Tone suggest करता है कि owner सोचता है यह confess करने की कोई embarrassing बात है।

ऐसा नहीं है। Excel remarkable software है। Right factory size के लिए यह सही tool है। आपको Faktry या कोई operations platform recommend करने से पहले — पूछना चाहिए कि क्या आपको actually need है।

असली सवाल: Excel कहाँ break होता है?

Excel की strength flexibility है — हर cell blank canvas है। Weakness भी वही है। जब आपको discipline चाहिए — single source of truth, structured workflows, enforcement — Excel आपके साथ fight करने लगता है।

यहाँ specific breakpoints हैं जो हमने chemical और batch manufacturers को hit करते देखा:

Breakpoint 1: दो लोगों को same sheet edit करनी है

पहला classic crack। Supervisor के desktop पर “Inventory Tracker v7.xlsx” open है। Storekeeper के पास “Inventory Tracker_FINAL_updated.xlsx” है। कोई नहीं जानता current कौन सा है। Google Sheets concurrent editing में help करता है, लेकिन scale पर अपनी problems लाता है।

Breakpoint 2: Customer complaint dispatch के तीन हफ्ते बाद

“15 March की आपकी Reactive Blue 19 batch off-shade है। क्या हुआ?”

Excel में आप production log खोलते हैं। Quantities और dates दिखती हैं। यह नहीं कि कौन सा H-acid lot use हुआ, कौन operator था, QC results क्या थे, कोई filter cake की photo ली थी। Supervisor को call करते हैं। वो operator को call करता है। Memory से story reconstruct करते हैं। Rarely holds up।

Breakpoint 3: GPCB audit या GMP inspection scheduled है

Excel आपको inventory ledger दे सकता है। Photo documentation, batch lineage, raw material lot traceability, या tamper-evident audit logs नहीं। Paper पर audit prepare करने का मतलब 2–3 दिन supervisor का story typing — और inspector authentic records और post-hoc cleanup में फर्क पहचान लेता है।

Breakpoint 4: Inventory counts कभी books से match नहीं होते

यह creep करता है। आप सोचते हैं drum 14 में 250 kg vinyl sulphone है। Physical count 180 kg reveal करता है। 70 kg lost नहीं था — पिछले महीने 8 batches में consumed था जो कोई inventory sheet में enter नहीं किया। 15 raw materials में multiply करें, और year-end ₹15–30 लाख की “inventory discrepancy” reveal करता है जो कोई reconcile नहीं कर सकता।

Breakpoint 5: Photos Excel में नहीं रहती

Modern manufacturing quality visual records पर depend करती है — filter cake photos, shade references, equipment condition, packaging state। Excel technically images embed कर सकता है, लेकिन files 500 MB पर bloat करती हैं, images versions में break होते हैं, और कोई operator phone से middle of a batch में Excel में photo paste नहीं करेगा।

डाई units में especially, customer repeat orders shade consistency demand करते हैं। Photos के साथ digital shade library के बिना, हर repeat guess बन जाता है। Excel filename store कर सकता है। Mobile पर आज के sample के अगल-बगल last batch की photo नहीं दिखा सकता।

Breakpoint 7: OEE और yield variance invisible हैं

Excel में theoretically OEE calculate कर सकते हैं। कोई नहीं करता। Data entry overhead exercise को kill करती है। Result: आप नहीं जानते कि reactor RX-02 RX-01 से 18% lower yield चलाता है, या shift B shift A से 3% ज़्यादा scrap consistently produce करती है। ये insights सालों बुरीड रहती हैं।

Migrate करने पर क्या होता है
